Reserach Experience:

 Research Associate, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi (2010-2011)

Postdoctoral Fellow, Weizmann Institute of Sciences, Israel (2006-2009)

Research Interest:

Protein Engineering has become a valuable tool to design new or enhanced quality proteins for numerous biotechnological applications. It has enormous potential to provide new diagnostic and therapeutic proteins for medical applications in the form of antibodies, enzymes and peptide hormones. We apply cutting edge techniques for the engineering of –

  • scFv-based monoclonal antibodies against the envelope proteins of certain human pathogens
  • Peptidases & Lactonases for organophosphate degradation
  • Chitinases for enhanced antifungal properties

 My research group also contributes in many collaborative projects involving screening and characterization of the synthetic chemical drugs. We have standardized techniques for the screening of antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial and anticancerous compounds. The screened out compounds are further studied to understand the mechanism of action.

Qualifications

  • PhD in “Environmental Toxicology” Department of Zoology from Banaras Hindu University , in 2005
  • M.Sc. in Molecular, Applied and Clinical Genetics from Department of Zoology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi , in 2001
