SAU Cultural Fest
NewDelhi(29-31.03.2019)SAUNews:Corenza,thethreedayculturalfestoftheSouthAsianUniversity,kick
started with an inaugural event on 29 March where the SAU President Dr. Kavita Sharma congratulated
the students for organising a colourful festival collectively. The highlighting events of the day were the
enthralling performances of Bharatnatyam by Yashohra Sabu and Aakanksha Rishi, disciples of Smt.
Rashmi Raut Jaiswal, and Mohiniyattam by Aditya R, a disciple of Padmashree Guru Bharti Shivaji. Prof.
Sanjay Chaturvedi, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, also sang a bhajan with mesmerizing effect. As the
fest unfolded over the next two days, students from various academic departments, presented a wide
array of cultural events and vied for top prizes. Some of the programmes included Rangoli, Mehendi,
Antakshari, Face Painting, Treasure Hunt, Singing and Debating competitions. The fest concluded with a
bang with a colourful Fashion Show, where students sashayed down the ramp flaunting attires from a
widerangeofculturesandcommunitiesoftheSouthAsiaregion.
Expressions
The foyer area of the University came alive with an innovative mosaic of wall hangings and aquatic
paraphernaliaadorning the stairways and the pillars around, zealously put up by the students. Corenza’19
also saw an exclusive art exhibition aptly called “Expressions” to bring forth the diversity of various art
forms in South Asia. Curated by Shray Chaturvedi and Akanksha Biswal, four large walls with original
artworks along with carefully shortlisted photographs, brought together a kaleidoscope of aperture and
colours.Ondisplayduringtheentiredurationofthefest,“Expressions”drewlargecrowdsfromstudents
andfaculty,atestimonythatartisthriving inthecultureofSAU.
